I have been working for CHC for approximately 3 years. I have worked with CalFresh Outreach, LIHEAP, and Market Match ever since I began my career at CHC. My hobbies are snowboarding and playing video games.
My passion for food equity started while studying nutrition at Chico State, being a part of the CalFresh Outreach team has allowed me to continue my advocacy into my profession. It is especially meaningful to be able to assist someone and see them get the help they need to provide food for themselves (and family).
My work does not stop at assisting with applications but also being a part of the Famers’ Market where recipients can use their benefits for fresh food as well as nutrition classes to teach people how to use their benefits and get the most out of it. In addition to helping our communities get access to federal food assistance I also organize and distribute information for local food pantries and maintain connections so that those who are in immediate need of food can get the help they need.
As the community outreach coordinator I have enjoyed promoting our programs to my local community to meet their basic needs including food and utility access. I have a natural desire to connect with people. I love building new partnerships, planning and attending outreach events, and assisting individuals with application assistance.
