A federally funded program that aims to help qualified individuals with their home heating and cooling costs, LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) is offered in multiple counties throughout the North State, including Butte, Glenn, Yuba, Sutter, Tehama, Plumas, Colusa and Shasta Counties.
The Community Outreach Team at CHC assists clients with the application process and submits the application to the administrating agency in their county. If you meet the current household and income guidelines—a household being the number of people living together (not necessarily related)—you may qualify for LIHEAP and can then choose from available credits to help cover home energy costs. You can apply for this benefit once every calendar year.
This program can help potentially eligible clients that are looking for Electricity, Gas, Wood, Propane, or Pellets assistance.
