Pandemic EBT (P-EBT)

What is P-EBT?

P-EBT 2.0 (or Pandemic EBT 2.0) is a nutrition assistance program for eligible children who have lost access to food due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With schools adopting a virtual or hybrid model for instruction during the 2020-2021 school year, families had to provide meals that would normally be provided by the child's school. That’s where P-EBT comes in to help lessen the impact of that financial burden on these families.

No application is needed for P-EBT benefits. The P-EBT cards are automatically mailed to the eligible children.

P-EBT benefits can be used at grocery stores, farmers' markets and other places where EBT is accepted, just like regular CalFresh benefits.

CHC’s Community Health Specialist, Jovita Avila, was featured in a P-EBT marketing campaign in 2022. Check out her videos along with other families that use P-EBT throughout California.
